Today, I got a call from a recruiter at 09:02 EDT. She's submitting me for a position at a satellite company in Ashburn, the description of which sounds absolutely ideal. It's a 6-month temp-to-hire deal, and the hiring company will pay for a Secret clearance if the decide to hire. I'm hoping it results in an interview.

I got an email from another recruiter with whom i spoke on Tuesday, and followed up with him on the phone. It's a helpdesk gig at Geisecke & Devrient in Sterling. It pays less than the one above, and comes with three shifts which rotate monthly: 06-15, 10-19, or 12-21, plus 1 weekend a month. Very less than ideal work hours, but it'd do for now. I'll interview with the company on Monday at 10.

I spoke with a third recruiter who called at 11:15 about a different, short-term, position in Ashburn. He said he was going to email me with address/directions to them (they're in Herndon near Worldgate), but i've not received an email, and the number he called me from is continuously busy. It was hard to hear him when he called; he seemed to be in a very noisy open office or call-centerish environment. So, as a result, i've no clue which company he rang from. Sigh.

Hi, and thanks for the feedback. Your 'rents were surprised that we seem not to've made one another's acquaintance previously.

I've kinda classified this one as something i could do for money while seeking a more ideal position. What do you mean by 'dispatch center? I gather that it somehow differs from a call center therefore?

You are most welcome. They seem to get a real kick out of you, and thought because of your name, the fact that you gamed, lived in VA and were a 'techie' that must have been a guy I worked with at my old company. ... I love my parents.

Our Field Engineers work on the banknote processing machines (money counting machines for banks, casinos, and FRB). The Call Center Reps take the incoming calls from the customers, and dispatch the Field Engineers (FEs) to the site. There are a few other aspects to the job, but that is basically the gist of it. None of it is hard. It's alot of information to digest, but the people are friendly, and we stay busy, so the time flies.

Again, good luck, with the job search. If I can help in anyway, please let me know.
