A nifty video here explains and shows, step-by-step, how new NJ Transit locomotives move from the Bombardier factory in Kassel, Germany to NY Harbor.

The woman to the right's orange sweater really made it for me. For those not familiar, that was taken on Washington Metro's Orange Line. Originally found it here.

This blog post at Greater Greater Washington explains it nicely and makes the point that the derailment was a safety success. You should read it.
Stupid transit tricks
Jan. 6th, 2009 08:06 amI live near Reston Town Center. Yesterday, i got a bus and a train to Ballston. Including walk to bus, took me about 45 minutes. Approx this route.
My usual work location is 3 miles away in Herndon. Getting there via transit requires either three buses and more than an hour, or two buses, starting with a 5 mile trip in the wrong direction, and about an hour.
