Oh my, I didn't realise that pirates had such an effect on the climate. I'm shocked, I will have to at once start holding ships up on the open seas to prevent further coastal erosion and such.

Coastal erosion is a perfectly natural phenomenon. If a person or a society built close enough to a body of water that erosion causes problems for them, they deserve to lose their structure(s) to the tides/flow/water. Hmph.

Very funny! The Flying Spaghetti Monster reminds me of the part in Hitchhiker's Guide where a race believed the universe was sneezed out of a giant creature, and they are anxiously dreading the time of the Coming Of The Great Handkerchief! =-P
