Google Maps
Jun. 29th, 2007 04:17 pmYesterday, i was using Google maps to get from Gaihersburg, MD to Hamilton, VA. The shortest rought is via White's Ferry. First, it tried to send me via 270S-495S-267W-7W/15S-7W-9W-Bus 7W. So, i dragged the blue line to shorten it, and it tried 270N-15S-Bus 15S-Bus 7W-7W-9W-Bus 7W. Still too long. Yes, the Bus 7 routes are non-contiguous, so that part makes sense.
To get it to aknowledge the ferry, i had to enter Gaithersburg, MD to Whites Ferry, MD to Hamilton VA, cutting an hour and some miles off the trip Making the route 124W-28N-107W-ferry-655W-15S-Bus 15S-Bus 7W-7W-9W-Bus 7W. 107 and 655 are both Whites Ferry Rd, but on opposite sides of the river.
It gladly sends me via other toll facilities, why not the ferry by default i wonder. Admittedly, the ferry does not run between 23 and 05:30, but this was at 14.
