2 Gentlemen Opening
Apr. 29th, 2006 02:02 amOpening night went well. I actually hit my cues on time, but for the last one. I now know the visual cue for that one too. I realized afterward that i was in total competition mode. I had the same focus, blocking out all that was not pertinent to my performance, the same fidgeting, the same pacing. It was weird. I've not played in a competition in decades. (Wow, how odd to be able to say decades.)
Tonight was not my best possible performance musically, but that will improve with each show and each week. I pleased the composer, who is on piano, by actually getting it right. :) It was nice being there between him and
muzikmaker21 on bass. I was part of the whole, and went with it. Gosh, that felt good. I've so missed performing.
A bunch of cast, crew, and friends went to Bennigans afterward, about 20 of us. We overpaid the gratuity-included bill by enough to leave the waitress smiling. It's always nice when that happens in a large group. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the run now. I'm so glad
muzimaker21 suggested this to me, and that she recommended me to the director and producer.
