Vote!

I voted, good little Unitedstatesian and UU that i am, if only to cast a NO for Ballot Question Number 1:

Ballot Question Number 1: “Shall Article 1 (the Bill of Rights) of the Constitution of Virginia be amended to state: 'That only a union between one man and one woman may be a marriage valid in or recognized by this Commonwealth and its political subdivisions.

“This Commonwealth and its political subdivisions shall not create or recognize a legal status for relationships of unmarried individuals that intends to approximate the design, qualities, significance, or effects of marriage. Nor shall this Commonwealth or its political subdivisions create or recognize another union, partnership, or other legal status to which is assigned the rights, benefits, obligations, qualities, or effects of marriage.”?

Stupid-ass Pollworkers

I just learned that someone on my flist has been denied a vote becuase they had no driver's license, but only a student ID, which is a valid ID according to State and Local law where they live. This has been confirmed with the board of elections in that county. I encourage you to GO BACK AND DEMAND YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE.

Print out the web page listing the valid IDs, and CALL the board of elections from the check-in table if needed to get it through their thick skulls. Yes, confrontation can be no fun, but dammit, you have a Constitutional right to cast a vote!
