Temporary Crowns

Friday, they installed a temporary crown on molar 31.
Saturday, it broke. (on a barely 1.5mm diameter piece of carrot)
Monday, they installed a new temporary crown with stronger cement.
This morning, Wednesday, it broke. (on a very soggy piece of Golden Grahams)
I go back to the dentist this afternoon for my 3rd temporary crown on that tooth.

What are your experiences with temporary crowns?

Actually, I had the exact opposite experience- a temporary crown that lasted at least 6 months. I kept putting off getting the permanent installed, to my dentist's dismay.
