Jasper just clawed hair out from the blood roots to force the cone from his head. He's shredded the gauze beyond use in the process. Should i buy a collar and reattach it, or what?
Oh dear :( Hobbit has been doing similar over the last 2 weeks. Does he actually need it on now - ie is he going to straight away scratch his lip or would you think he'll leave it alone now its scabbing nicely? If he needs it, yes, get a collar and reattach it. And cut his claws.
Scabs are gone now, but i've decided to monitor, and continue administering the antibiotics, and make a decision tomorrow or Monday. I have decided i'll use a leather collar through the e-collar if i reinstall it. He's definitely happier and no longer mopey now that it's off.
and ask the vet for something like valum or calming stuff to keep the cat relaxed about the cone if it is a MUST. A lot of pets have Panic about cones. You put one on. See how you feel.
I would definitely contact the vet for advice/other solutions if the cone is required. I agree with wolfdancer, most pets object strongly to cones. Elizabethan isn't a good look in the animal kingdom.
