Take the MIT Weblog Survey

[livejournal.com profile] dr_tectonic posted a link to the above survey. I took it too, and i think you should also take it. After all, bell curves are meant to be skewed, power laws are meant to be broken, and Cameron deserves to finish his PhD. I also agree with dr_tectonic's assesment:

I think they're going to miss out on a lot of data because their webspider appears not to understand how LiveJournal works.

My guess is that it's about how blogging/blog-commenting is being used as a new mode of communication that takes the burden off other modes for particular kinds of communication. Plus a bunch of demographic stuff relating to small-world networks. Anybody else want to guess?
Guessing, or at least discussion, is encouraged, and i know how loquacious you are, so chatter away!

Sounds about right.

And yeah, I noticed it's not picking up lj user links. Don't know if that's on purpose or not.

But I totally have far less email contact than I used to. Saying that, I kinda forgot about work email...

Hm. Mayhap it incorrectly perceives LJ as a single blog, as opposed to a multiple-blog tool/community.

I started to take it - but gave up pretty quick. None of the choices about links made sense - gee, why do I have a link to my own calendar on my journal? I don't know, maybe I'll try later & just leave stupid stuff blank. (I also hate the term Blog)

Yeah, i totally understand where you're coming from. I went through with it, though not all the choices always made sense, and the last section does not allow for knowing more than 1 of any given type from different sources. The poll was not very scientifically designed. He probably ought to've gotten input on its design from some experts. Of course, depending on the thesis he plans to defend, mayhap this design serves his purposes.

How do you know the good doctor? I found his LJ because it popped up on
two quite unrelated Google searches.

He commented to one of your postings. I liked what he said, checked out his journal, and liked what i found. Since then, i have found that he and his partners are a pleasant, fun, and interesting bunch.
