I'm curious about the black-eyed peas; that sounds like Southern New Year's Day to me. I'm not sure where the pork fits in, either. I freely admit this is probably just my ignorance!

I entirely lack a connection of snow and Yule in my brain. Snow comes mostly after New Year. Twice in my life, here in DC, it snowed on Xmas, both times melting by noon. Though i totally see why one would have that reaction looking at the list. :)
