Which HFS? The really old 1980s HFS which played edgy alternative music (I knew it was alternative because I'd hate at least every fourth or fifth song), or the one it mellowed into before its demise?
Yeah, I am liking it a bit. I didn't mind "the Arrow" and I don't know that "The Globe" is too much different, but it's a good break when I haven't changed out the stuff in my car CD player. The fact that it has the two DJs from HFS who played the most stuff I liked (Surf and Weasel) helps a bit, no doubt.
There's also Baltimore's 102.7 JACK FM station - it's a no DJs format, with some irritating [but also, since they are often for local Baltimore advertisers and I grew up around there, oddly soothing] commercial interruptions, but they actually play a lot of what I think of as "deep cuts" mixed in. They have pretty good signal into NoVa if you're not into valleys.
I was thinking like the HFS of 20ish years ago. I've not checked out 102.7 ina while, i'll see if it's more agreeable to me than before, though i honestly don't recall what i didn't like about it.
