I made egg salad tonight, with eggs, dry mustard, salt, pepper, horseradish mustard, pickles, pickle brine, mayo, hot sauce, and some veggie broth base for additional salt.

Jsaper is licking out the bowl. Between the dry mustard, the horseradish mustard, and the hot sauce, it had a bit of a kick. He still cleaned out the bowl and seems satisfied. I guess after 14 years together, it follows he'd be used to my cooking.

Still, it's not something a cat would usually eat.

That is one strange cat. One of mine loved cantaloupe, but that's pretty tame in comparison.

Most cats might not like spicy egg salad, but I have my doubts about the concept of a normal cat.

A cat I lived with did that once, after she thorougly licked out a bowl from some spicy chinese food. She never did it again. :(

Nope, no more licking than usual; the egg salad was less piquant than my usual red sauce, which he loves.

The oddest (or at least the oddest to _me_) thing I caught The Orange Beast liking so far was a thin carrot sliver from a serving of Chinese hot-n-crispy beef (prepared un-hot). No actual beef was on the carrot, although it was thoroughly soaked in the sauce, and I fully expected Beastie to lick it and walk away, but no, he scarfed it up and meowed for more.
