Thing the first:

I have gotten so many responses to posting my resume that i am completely overwhelmed. I had a phone interview today, which will result in an in-person interviwe later this week at Datatel. They seem a decent environment, and are an easy commute, as they're in the Fair Lakes part of Fairfax. I have an in-person interview with a recruiter in Bethesda tomorrow. Whee.

Thing the second:

I need a good vegan cake recipe. I have a frosting already. Suggestions?

Depending on the cake flavor, you can always do a simple powdered-sugar/lemon-juice icing. Just add lemon juice to powdered sugar until it's a good consistency and balance of tart/sweet. (You can also thin it with water.)

Yep, i've done that, OJ, apple cider, and dessert wines like that. This time, i was thinking of a butter cream using palm oil to make a white frosting.

There's a not-bad vegan chocolate cake recipe in Moosewood.

The original, or the reduced-fat reprint edition?

*gets up and walks to shelf*
*can't find recipe*

Ah. It's on p. 322 of Moosewood Restaurant Cooks at Home. After I lived too close to the actual restaurant, I've not looked at most of their cookbooks in several years. Maybe I should cook something from that book again; it's ok.

*goes to cookbook bookshelf*
*finds book and reads recipe*

That's in the running, thank you. I'll confirm whether cocoa is acceptable and whether sugar is acceptable, or if i'll have to use agave nectar.

If you work in Bethesda, do you expect you'll move?

I have thus far avoided living in Maryland, and i plan to continue not to for the forseeable future. I'd be willing to move back into DC, but when i buy, i really want to end up in Arlington or Falls Church.

the Moosewood recipe is the one my former boss' wife uses, and I can attest to its yumminess.

We were a Datatel customer when I worked in Fundraising at GMU.
They seemed like a good company. In fact if they're hiring Admins lemme know :)
