I just made egg salad, and am toasting some bread to go with it. Smelling it brings me back to the lazy Sunday mornings of my childhood, mostly because it's Safeway store brand bread in the toaster, which was the bread we most always had on hand growing up. It's always amazing hov evocative smells are.

Mmmm ... remember "ghost eye toast"? Talk about your childhood memories

Um, no. What's that?

Cookie cutter a circle in the middle of the bread. Put it in a skillet. Crack an egg into the middle. Cook and then flip. Ghost eye toast! mmmmm ... the smell of eggs and toast!

The only thing that kicks my memories harder than smells is music.

True, though my musical associations are not nearly as strong, except where i've performed the piece, and a certain subset of mid-80s stuff that i associate with my father's decline and death.
