dcseain: Cast shot of me playing my violin in role of minstrel in the Two Gentlemen of Verona (Default)

Heh. (From [profile] theblackdog2071)

Also, what do you think of the pix of me in the center? I'm not sure about it.

Hmm. The picture of you in the center throws me off a bit? It's a fine-looking picture, but the face seems longer. But maybe it's the angle or something.

I like [livejournal.com profile] kokyu's subversive take on this meme: http://kokyu.livejournal.com/203557.html

Thanks for the link, that answered a bunch of questions. I matched one woman, i forge who, as well as several men based on its algorithm.

[identity profile] dcseain.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I just noticed that it's at an angle such that it looks like i don't have ears.

[identity profile] selki.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
I think some of the throwing-off is that in that picture you look very serious but also sort of blank. Which, combined with the Richard Stallman picture, reminds me of that Serial Killer or Software Engineer? quiz that was floating around awhile ago.

[identity profile] selki.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Not slamming you! Just trying to puzzle out my response.

[identity profile] dcseain.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the feddback, it matches my own opinions of the photo. The foreshortening of my face is kinda interesting to me in it, too.

[identity profile] ftemery.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Well, er, you're still better looking than any of the rest of the guys, but the pic doesn't do you justice - would a better pic of you give different look alikes?

[identity profile] dcseain.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Dunno, i'll dig up a better photo and see.

[identity profile] melted-snowball.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm kind of surprised that Stallman qualifies as a celebrity in their categorization, but whatever.

I don't have much opinion about the pic, having never seen you in the flesh. But there was a really cool Warhol painting of Buber at the exhibit last weekend...

AHH!! MAKE IT STOP!

[livejournal.com profile] dcseain does NOT look like Richard Stallman. [livejournal.com profile] dcseain does NOT look like Richard Stallman. [livejournal.com profile] dcseain does NOT look like Richard Stallman. [livejournal.com profile] dcseain does NOT look like Richard Stallman. Heck, I think that picture of Richard Stallman doesn't look like Richard Stallman for that matter.

Hide this post. No one must ever know what has happened here.

I must say, getting email with the title "AHH!! MAKE IT STOP!" is a bit unexpected...

Yes and no. Knowing the people i know, it's not shocking, though it did surpise me.

Alrighty, then. I guess this means i do not qualify as a slight mad zealot. Whew, that's a relief.

[identity profile] mobmama.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
sweetheart, that photo does not do you justice. you are much better looking than that indicates!!

[identity profile] dcseain.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't think it was all that either, hence the question, but that one was handy, and kinda silly, so i thought it'd be fun. :)

[identity profile] louiseroho.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
The picture in the center makes you look most like [livejournal.com profile] chadu, IMO.
My closest match on that thing was with Neal Stephenson with a beard.

[identity profile] dcseain.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I can easily see that people would presume [livejournal.com profile] chadu and me to be brothers. I know i've a doppleganger roaming the streets of Boston who oft confuses my friends when they're up there. I sometimes wonder if it's my cousin from St Louis; our parents could not tell us apart.

[identity profile] nosebeepbear.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Adam Goldberg wins based on that picture, but I agree that it doesn't do you justice.

Now I'm wondering how much it would skew my results if I used the pic with the happy-face gag :P.

[identity profile] dcseain.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I ran it again with the photo from my current default user icon, with the violin. It matched me with women, but for 2, and i agree that mouth expression seems to matter a lot.

[identity profile] nosebeepbear.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
hmm...I really must try that - from the results I've seen it seems to match by the mouth expression more than anything else. Could be interesting :).

It appears that their face recognition software picks up on prominent
"accessories" as well. This collage doesn't reflect that, but when I
used a photo with thicker-frame glasses, it emphasized the
*glasses*. I may have an old photo of you without facial hair --
I'll look and send to you if I find it. Would be interesting to
compare.
