"Corpse" Flower and Illuminated Manuscripts

Saturday:

09:00 - Left house to go to the United States Botanic Garden with 4 other guys whom i know from Dulles Triangles, a local gay social group.

10:30 - After making 3 loops through the west side of town due to the closure of Independence Ave SW from 23rd St to 14th St, the closure of Ohio Dr SW in its entirety, the closure of Maine Ave SW from 12th St to I-395, plus the closure of all roads crossing the Mall except for 12th St and 9th St, i arrived at the Botanic Garden a mere 30 min late. Happily, Kevin and Bruce had only been there 15 min due to the same road closures, and Dan and Dave arrived 10 min later.

12:15 - We all went to lunch at the National Gallery of Art, then hit the exhibit of illuminated Manuscripts from the collection of the J Paul Getty Museum. We also hit the Matisse Cut-outs and a few other East Wing galleries.

14:00 - We leave the museum, with me heading off in another direction, as i parked further away than they did. On the way to the car i hit the Enid Haupt Garden, the National Museum of African Art, and the Sackler Gallery, which are all part of the Smithsonian Instition.

15:45 - Stopped by a local park and hiked above the river for a bit.

17:05 - Arrived at The Nookery for gaming, after a brief stop for water and ginger ale at a store.
While at The Nookery, ran out to get food for everyone, then went back out to get a tiramisu.

22:00 - A game of Die Siedler von Katan gets underway, and i leave The Nookery to head to a party.

22:30 - I arrive at the other party, which turns out to be a small, intimate get together of people , all of whom i knew.

02:00 Sunday - I set out for home, arriving about 30 min later.

It's now about 04:00, an i think i'll sleep now, as i usually am getting up in about 30 min. :D What a wonderful day it was Saturday.

It was nice to have you here. Next time you come, we should have that game of Robo Rally (commadammit). I haven't picked a game at my own house in months, and that one sounded like fun when you mentioned it.

Yay! You've really not chosen one in months? I guess not. I don't recall the last time you suggested one. Wow.
