This Week
Monday:
Interviewed at Giesecke & Devrient Americas - Banknote Segment. The position is a supporting these machines that sort paper money. I got told i was "grossly overqualified" and that they would submit my resume to another manager for a training position. I need to follow up with the recruiter today.
Tuesday:
Follow-up on various job things.
Wednesday:
Baked cookies in the morning. Interviewed at Oberthur Card Systems at 09:30. Interestingly, Oberthur is a direct competitor of Giesecke & Devrient - Card Segment. I spoke with Bracken, their recruiter in HR; with Jackie and Kathy, Client Services Supervisors; and with Theodocia, who is the VP for Client Services. I really liked all the people i spoke with, and liked what i learned about the job and the environment. I left that interview very excited about that position. It required a pre-employment drug test. After the interview, I took
scruffycritter to the airport after that interview, and then went to gaming at
chez_turtle, and took all but 1 dozen of the cookies with me to that.
Thursday:
Attended a 70-minute information session at Bankers Life and Casuality Company. The position is an insurance sales position, management track. They've called me for a 2nd interview with Scott, the branch manager in Chantilly, Monday at 14. I have a great personality for this job. I do wonder whether i have the drive to maintain such over the long haul. Who knows may be that i'd thrive with it. Opinions?
After the above interview, i interviewed in Alexandria, Hoffman Center area (Telegraph Rd & Eisenhower Ave) for a help desk position with Preferred Systems Solitions, Inc.. It's at the DoD Surface Distribution and Deployment Command, at a help desk which is for the pepole involved in shipping DoD personnel's personel effects when they get transferred. I'm a good fit, it pays a bit ($2000) more than i was making at webMethods. Minuses: It's in Old Town, and i live near Reston Town Center and it's gov't contracting. This one is likely to generate an offer.
Friday:
Today, i finally got around to going to the lab for the pre-employment drug test for Oberthur, as W & R i was too busy, and the place closes at 16. I'm following up with several recruiters today also. It looks like i'll have 2-3 offers by the middle of next week. Fwee! What a week.
This weekend:
Tomorrow, i'm going gaming at the
nookery, which will be a lot of fun; i adore the people there. Sunday i'm going to church, as the sermon "After the Welcoming Congregation, What?" pertains to me, as it specifically address the now that we're a Welcoming [to LGBTs] Congregation, and have been for a decade, now what? Not sure about that afternoon.
