I attended Godwin Middle School in Dale City, VA, where for my orchestral studies, i studied under Michael Trowbridge. Well, Mr Trowbridge is retiring this year, so a bunch of us alumni are getting together at the date in the title to have a retirement concert at Gar-Field High School in Dale City, VA. We'll be performing Bach's Brandenburg Concerto, No. 3, First Movement - Abridged, and Copland's Hoe Down from "RODEO".

Let the practicing begin! I think i'll be playing in 2nd violin for this concert.

I really need to put this on my calendar.

I just updated the post to reflect that this is happening at Gar-Field.

I should be able to get to Gar-Field. It's much closer to my parents' house than it used to be (even though neither they nor the school have moved :)).

what's the deal with playing in the concert? are there auditions? just sign up? am I too late?

You're not too late. Email Kathy Zeizel, first initial last name at gmail dot com if you want to participate. From her recent email:

As promised here is the music for Mr.Trowbridge's Concert. There are 2 pieces. Everyone is playing Brandonburg No 3. Then the people who went on and majored in music in college will also be playing Hoedown. The link below (which should be all one line) will take you to the music. If not go to Gar-Field.org, click on Classrooms, music, advanced orchestra, and the music is in the alumni orchestra folder. Violins take your pick between first and second violin.

I'm thinking i'll choose 2nd violin for this performance.

I could play the Brandenburg in my sleep, assuming my hands let me. I'm tempted.

Do we need tickets? We'd love to come. Robyn thinks she knows where the school is too.

I don't think tickets are required, though i don't know if there will be a small fee at the door, either. I'll find out and update here.
