Come together in love... WTF?

This baffles and appalls me all at once. What think you?

It just feels like it's going 'it's affecting my life' and never explains how.

You're a doctor that has to choose between your faith... how does that have anything to do with same-sex marriage? Are you marrying your patients? If so, you went to a screwy medical school.

[identity profile] dmk.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's the doctor who really just makes my head spin. How does this affect a doctor?

[identity profile] dcseain.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
I theorize the doctor comment is toward a proposal that has to do with requiring medical professionals to provide care regardless of faith as part of a proposed socialization of medicine in the US, and seems to have nothing at all to do with marriage, IMHO.

Excellent snark on the schooling, btw!

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

And people deciding they want to marry people the same sex as themselves affects your lives HOW?!

Best I can tell is the rough translation is
"those awful liberals who advocate for same sex marriage also advocate for sex education and for health care providers to not refuse service etc."

They'd be first against the wall when the revolution comes... if the wall wasn't so crowded already.

SSDD. okay, the doctor bit is new and irrevelant, but the rest? definitely same ol' same ol'.

I'm guessing you're not the target audience, as they say.

[identity profile] dcseain.livejournal.com 2009-04-10 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, indeed not. Though i do try to keep up on what those outside of my socio-political circle are doing.

I was commenting on the "This baffles...me" part of your original post although I'm not sure if you're baffled by the ad or if you're baffled by the point-of-view that the ad supports. In any case, all I've seen is people snarking it; I can only hope that people are actually trying to understand why it was created, too.

The overall message of 'come together in love for discrimination' is the part that most baffles me, aside from the random comment from the doctor, which i eventually did make some sense of, i think.

In any case, all I've seen is people snarking it; I can only hope that people are actually trying to understand why it was created, too.

So mote it be.

Disgusting!

I am so glad I did not look at it when it was first up. It is dreadful and hateful. One cannot "come together in love" with the intent to deprive people of civil rights. I HATE ONE TRUE RIGHT AND ONLY WAYERS! AARGH! (Sorry, I'm better now.)
